EDIBLE SENSORY FOAM

What you need to make Edible Sensory Foam:

  • 1 portion of Aquafaba (the liquid drained from one 400g can of chickpeas)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • Food colouring (optional)
Yes, that’s it! Three little ingredients to create a whole heap of messy, taste safe, fun sensory play for your baby and toddler.
All you need to do is throw them into a bowl and beat away with some electric beaters until stiff peaks form. Then transfer this foam into a tray or table and the fun begins!

Make sure you have your LITTLE bare henni baby Smock Bib ready!

Suggestions for play: as it is a new texture for many children, giving them scoops or utensils to start with allows them to explore without getting it on their hands. I also keep a container of water nearby for splashing, and mixing.
Another fun thing to add in is some animals like we have done here. It does get messy so make sure you have rags, and of course your baby Smock Bib to protect your clothing. Exploring and discovering with sensory play offers so many learning opportunities for young growing minds.
Sensory play activates the five senses: touch, smell, sight, taste and hearing. It is through the stimulus of the senses that the brain receives information and is able to build neuron connections.
